Maritime energy transition

Green energy transition industries

The maritime industry ranks as the second-largest sector in Norway by export value. The region of Møre and Romsdal, particularly Sunnmøre, hosts a significant global network, employing over 13,000 people and generating more than 45 billion kroner in turnover annually.

In the coming decades, a substantial portion of the world's maritime fleet is expected to be replaced or retrofitted to become zero-emission vessels. The market demand for such transformations will be vast. Norway is well-positioned to capitalize on this shift, building on its existing strengths and its leading role in developing and implementing green maritime solutions for all vessels and ports.

Møre and Romsdal serves as a hub for ocean-based industry technologies and services. Strategically located in Mid-Norway, the region frequently acts as a service point for both national and international maritime traffic.
